Join Cathay Pacific Airways on a flight from London Heathrow into one of the world's most demanding and exciting landings - Hong Kong's Kai Tak airport.

  • 63 minute DVD Cathay Pacific Airways
  • London Heathrow' > Hong Kong Kai Tak
  • Checkerboard Approach
  • Captain Don Grange guides you through the systems and procedures

Your pilot's eye view will give you an insight into the worlds most popular and well-known civil aircraft - the mighty Boeing Jumbo Jet.

During the programme we position you on the flightdeck for the departure from London on flight CX250. You will see the take-off first hand alongside the Captain and First Officer.

In the cruise we take you to the Cathay 747-400 simulator in Hong Kong. This multi-million dollar simulator is used to show you some incredible facets about the -400 that would not be possible on a scheduled flight. Demonstrations include a full take-off from 09R at Heathrow, from engine start-up (including a hot engine start), high and low speed stalling with dramatic effect, engine fires, plus much more. You'll receive full explanations of what is happening along with views of systems such as the PFD (Primary Flight Display).

Then we go back to flight CX250 for the landing into Kai Tak. Our multi-camera shoot of one of the world's most demanding landings is something to treasure forever. As educational as it is exciting this programme is a unique way to experience airliner travel!

I am a Flight Dispatcher for EasyJet at EDI and had the pleasure of meeting Don Grange on one of my Gatwick turnarounds the other week.

He gave me some sound advice on how to gain my Commercial Pilot's Licence along with some information on his own career to date - he left CP in 1997 to fly for Virgin.

Congratulations to Don & ITVV for an excellent B747-400 video.

I have seen this programme over at a friend's house and this is how I ended up on this webpage.

I have seen many flightdeck DVDs but this one is outstanding, by far the best I have seen so far.

I know I am going to sound like an ITVV guy saying this but "buy it, it's worth it".

Don Grange does an excellent job, he makes things very easy to understand and the simulator idea is excellent as the Captain has more time to explain things to us.

Also, I loved the "multi-cameras thing", it's nice to see the aircraft lining up with the runway from inside and outside. Great!!!

Thanks ITVV

I've recently bought three ITVV programmes from Transair Pilot Shop. Virgin Atlantic B747-400, Cathay Pacific B747-400, and Cathay Pacific B777-200.

I thought these programmes were absolutely fabulous, especially the feature flight simulators on both the Cathay Pacific videos B747-400 and B777-200.

Very educational and interesting.

I'd recommend any ITVV flight deck documentary videos or DVD's to anyone interested in aviation especially flight deck flying and operations.

A must for any aviation enthusiast.

Hi, A few years ago my parents gave me the Airtours A330 and the 747-400 Virgin Atlantic programmes with Mark Haley and Julian Bond.

I would just like to say that the filming in both of these two programmes was fantastic, the camera shots were excellent and provided all sorts of an insight to what it is like to be an airline pilot.

Theses two programmes are my most two-fave programmes I own.

Thanks very much.

Have just purchased the Concorde DVD and noticed this one.

My first flight on a B747-400 was with Cathay Pacific on a short hop to Amsterdam with TAS (The Aviation Society) a passenger who later became a friend won a raffle for the jump seat into Amsterdam and did me an excellent video of the approach and touch down at Schipol.

This will be next on the list of DVD's when I have given the Concorde ones a run for there money when they arrive.
